I’m in a Writing State of Mind

Every once in a while the urge to write hits me. I don’t mean writing blog entries, I mean writing stories. It is a dream of mine to be published someday, and sometimes the urge to just drop everything and write grabs me. I recently have had that urge, and instead of pushing it away like I have the last few times I have felt it, I have decided to embrace it ans start to write. I have signed up for NaNoWriMo camp (National Novel Writing Month). NaNoWriMo happens every November, but they also run smaller “camps” a few times throughout the year. The goal of these “camps” is to challenge yourself to write a novel in a month. There is an online community of writers doing the same thing, and everyone encourages one another to push on and to just write. There are no revisions, no deletions, and no starting over for this month. The goal is to get it all out not matter the quality.  I am signed up for the April Camp session and am already having fun.

(This picture has nothing to do with the post… I just wanted to show off my good looking nephew, husband, and niece.)

Why am I telling you this? Well, with every new adventure there is a sacrifice to make. Since I am going to be writing so much, I know that I will not have a ton of time to post blogs in the month of April. I am going to check in, hopefully once a week, with a small post but will be suspending all normal blogging activities until May. Honestly, I am having a bit of anxiety over this, but I know that this is something I will regret not doing.

See you all in May! :)

A Trip To Ireland

Over Easter my husband and I took a trip to Ireland to visit his family. We took a 5 day trip, and it couldn’t have been more fun. Last year when we went at about the same time, the weather was overcast and drizzling the whole time. This year, although it was very cold, we had blue, clear skies almost the entire time. I couldn’t get over how pretty everything looked!

The first day we arrived we spent the day hanging out with family and friends, and it was so wonderful to catch up in person. Skype is great, but there is nothing better than being in person.

On a quick walk before dinner, my husband and I snapped a few photos of the surrounding area. I love all of the wildlife, farm animals, and great views that surround the area where Fergal grew up. It is so picturesque!

Passing Ships lead to… a Castle?

This week the Mr. tried something new. He is an electrician, and he signed on to do the night shift for a few nights. He worked from 6pm – 1am on Sunday night and Monday night, then he had Tuesday off (but had night classes), and then worked the day shift the rest of the week. Let me tell you … it was weird! I didn’t see him (except when he was sleeping next to me when I crept out of bed in the morning) for basically 3 days – we were passing ships. I think that the strangest part was that he was THERE… just not awake… when I was.  I was relieved when the Mr. decided that night shifts weren’t for him and he will be working regular shifts from now on.

I have been in a weird funk all week, and I honestly think that this change of schedule did me in. It is funny how another person’s schedule can do that to you. I guess that is what happens when you are married!

I think that the best way to get out of this funk will be to stay at a Castle with the Mr. so that is what we will do (I find it hilarious I just said that…).

I am so excited (aka counting down the days) that we are going to visit the Mr.’s family soon, and am also looking forward to the one night side trip that the Mr. and I will be making to the Lough Eske castle. It is going to be so pretty (knock on wood… I hope it doesn’t rain or snow!)

A Little Inspiration

…and this is why I am always so busy! Wouldn’t change it though :)

Dogs!

I try not to talk about my dogs too much… since not everyone is a dog person… but sometimes I just have to brag about how cute they are. This weekend was all about the dogs – hiking and just generally spoiling them. It is amazing how well Barney has slipped into our little family. He is quite the character!

Cassie has improved leaps and bounds since Barney came into our life. He has been the recipe for confidence in her. Even when he isn’t around, Cassie seems like a more confident pup. Having a timid dog has really changed my outlook on training animals. Every small improvement is a victory, and no improvements are too small to acknowledge and appreciate. For example, Cassie has started to come to me when I call her. I know that sounds like a strange thing to be excited about, but it really is a big deal! less than a month ago Cassie would do anything but come when called… she would be more likely to go hide in a corner.

love the snow

It was also a ton of fun to see the animals in the snow that we got on Friday. We got hit pretty hard (well over a foot) and it was hilarious to see Barney and Cassie frolic and enjoy the white stuff. It almost made up for the fact that it snowed on my birthday reminding me that my birthday isn’t exactly a sign of spring.
