Hello! Thanks for checking the site out.

My name is Lindsey and Dwelling in Style is my little corner of the web, where I write about life, more specifically the life of a newlywed couple in a new-to-us home and all of the projects, cooking experiments, hobbies, and failures that go with settling in and making our first house a home.

When I was growing up in the small town west of Boston that my family chose to settle, if anyone had told me I would someday move back there with my husband I would have laughed in their faces. Yet, a few years out of college (go BC Eagles!), that is exactly what happened. My husband, Fergal, is from Ireland (yup, accent and all! I am so lucky ) and missed the country side. He is also obsessed with golf, and our little town has about 5 golf courses. I missed my family (yes, I was only 45 min. away from them) and wanted to be closer to them. So in the end it made perfect sense to move back to the little town. In early 2012 we moved back (well, I moved back and he moved there for the first time) to that little town where my family still lived and set about to make a new life.

We  love our house. One of the main reasons is that it needs a lot of TLC, meaning that as we fix it up, we can really make it our own. We are taking the slow and steady route, and have been tackling small and large tasks alike one by one. We are always on a budget, so we have a great excuse to exercise our creativity and DIY wherever possible.

This blog is more than just a DIY blog, it is about the life we live in our house too. This includes my experimental cooking (which my husband always bravely tries), funny stories about random everyday things, my quilting hobbies, our travels, and occasional rambles about this and that.

Since we moved into our house exciting things have happened. We got married, which also meant that we got to show Fergal’s family from Ireland our house when they came over, in the summer of 2012. We adopted our first pet, Ringo the cat, and then more recently adopted our second pet, Cassie the dog. We get endless enjoyment watching and playing with these guys, and have been working really hard to make them comfortable enough with each other so they can both be in the same room (and dare I say it – even play together?!). We more recently got our third pet – Barney who is an energetic black lab mix.

I am a dreamer. I love to think big and then dive in. I am so lucky because I met a guy who can see my big dreams (and share dreams of his own!), add to them, and then go on the adventure of trying to make those dreams come true with me – no matter how crazy they are.
