The funny thing about life is that we often are looking forward to the next thing, and let the present pass us by. Last weekend I was in the car with my mom and our family friend, Katie, and I started talking about plans that the Mr. and I had for the future, and the funny little quirky things we have had to do since we are just starting out. Both my mom and Katie had stories of their own, describing how they saved money, made ends meet, and found joy in the less-than-perfect situations that undoubtedly come about when just starting out.
Later in the week I remembered this chat when the Mr. and I were cold and battling the desire to crank the heat wayyy up to battle the cold COLD weather we have been having here. If this had been two weeks ago I am sure we would have… but we just got another really expensive heating bill and promised each other that we would be better about keeping the heat down low.
mid-move back after a night right up close to the fire!
But it was cold. And anyone who has spent any time with me in the winter knows that I don’t handle the cold weather well. In fact I am wearing fingerless gloves as I write this because, well, I’m cold. The Mr. decided to be creative with our furniture to warm me up. He started a roaring fire in our fireplace and then moved all of our living room furniture into a semi circle close to the fire place. We ate dinner, I worked on my computer, and we watched TV all up close to the fire place. Sure, the TV was a little closer than usual and our animals were looking at us like we were crazy, but it was warm, and we were both laughing at how pathetic we were.
Moral of the story? I guess it is to enjoy the quirky things and try to turn every stinky starting off situation into something laughable.
Can you relate? I would love to hear your stories.. leave a comment below!

This is not been pathetic Lyndsey this is called been Wise
Haha, thanks Imelda!
I have found the best elixir for the cold is, not surprisingly, a sweater, exercise and a sunny disposition. I’m fond of all. An early evening in bed with a good book also works.
Haha, makes sense!
