Getting Inspired.

Inspiration is a fickle thing. When trying to pinpoint what exactly inspires me, I often come up empty handed. I have realized, after thinking on this a lot since yesterday, that it is impossible because no one thing inspires me. I get inspiration from everywhere, in the most likely – and the least likely – places.

One of the main places I gain inspiration from is the web. If there was a job where you could sit and look at beautiful pictures of decorated houses all day, I would be first in line for the position (although I am sure a lot of people would be vying for that job as well!). I also enjoy various blogs, including Young House Love, Cupcakes and Cashmere, and V&Co. The three of these blogs are completly different in subject, tone, and writing style, but they all speak to me on another level.

I also gain inspiration from doing nothing. I know that this sounds weird. But if you give me a cup of tea and an undisturbed hour to just think, then I usually come up with an idea that inspires me to get my butt into gear. Or better yet – leave me alone with a cup of tea AND a notebook. Then I will be sure to be writing down ideas, stories, or making plans. I love paper. :)

I can go on and on about what inspires me from people I know and love, to being in nature, to reading a good book, there are a million things that constantly pop into my mind and make me feel like I should get up and create something. Most of the time it isn’t a problem for me to get inspiration, instead it is a problem to find the time to act on these inspirations.

What inspires you?
