For those of you who have been reading/ watching the Game of Thrones series (I recommend you do both), you know that the Stark families motto is “Winter is coming”. As the husband raked up his first leaves, I have needed to bring a jacket for the brisk mornings we have been having, and the sun has been setting earlier and earlier, I have realized that winter is indeed coming – and soon.
In order to prepare for this winter, I plan on making a few quilts that can live in various rooms of the house so there is always one close by when it gets cold. Although we moved in last March when the weather was just warming up, we discovered that the house doesn’t capture heat very well. We are going to be taking various measures (which I will of course share here) in the next few weeks to remedy this, but I am hedging my bets with a few extra quilts.
I used a simple all square pattern, to ease back into quilting. The fabric is Kate Spain’s Moda fabric line “Good Fortune”.
I am loving the way this one is turning out, and added boarders to it last night (sorry not picture!). The plan is to start quilting it tonight, although I am still deciding how I will be doing this. I will share the final project when it is done!
