My brother and sister-in-law just celebrated their first anniversary. Last July their wedding was the highlight of the summer. The fiancé and I had an amazing time, and I loved catching up with old friends (I went to the same college as my brother and sister-in-law… go BC!). The fiancé caught the garter (yes, I know, funny that we are the next to get married) and I held onto it for a year with a vague idea that I wanted to make something out of it. I got some inspiration from my Sarah Symes collection that we hang in our bedroom. It isn’t anything like her pieces, but the vague idea came from there. I hope they like it!
I made three small quilts, using blue fabric with a pop of orange (our bridesmaid dresses were orange, and the garter was blue). I added the garter to one When they were complete I used my staple gun to attach them to canvases (about 5 x 8 each). They can be hung in a collection, or separately. After a long absence it was great to get back into the studio and make something!
