We are at the point in the downstairs bathroom that we can really focus on the details. The painting is done, the lighting is great, we have a mirror that I am still dwelling on but that is growing on me, and things are looking good!
We decided to get a new toilet seat for the bathroom, since the old one was looking like it had seen much, MUCH, better days. It is really amazing the difference that something as small as a new toilet seat can make. I love this purchase even more, since it led me to find the deal of the century at Lowes… but I will save that for a later post.
This is the old toilet seat. It actually looks better in this picture than in person. The seat has scratches, is discolored, and has paint all over it (my fault on the paint!)
We also covered up the hole in the ceiling. The fiancé wanted to leave the hole so that it would be easy to access the illegal electric box in the ceiling, but we also wanted it to look good. I am pretty pleased with the end result, and it is barely noticeable. It was one of those could be disaster, but turned into a win-win situation.
The original solution to the hole-in-the-ceiling situation. A solution I wasn’t so crazy about… (and to his credit, the fiancé wasn’t thrilled with it either)
The bathroom now just needs a valance (I am working on one!), some pictures hung, and a few other small things before I can call it complete!

Well done Lindsey!
Thanks! I am pretty excited with how this is coming along.
