Last weekend I tackled the downstairs bathroom by adding one last coat of white paint – and I am thrilled to report that it actually worked and covered the last of the blue. I didn’t take many pictures of the space, because it is now a white canvas, which isn’t much to write home about (or write here about). The plan is to decorate with black and white paintings, pictures, ect. to give the space a real cohesive feel.
Two major things are currently standing in my way of this goal: the radiator that is still blue (and the blue wall behind the radiator that even my mini roller can’t get behind) and the ugly wood vanity that takes away from the black and white elegance that I am aiming for.
You can see both the blue radiator (bottom left corner of the picture) and the vanity in this picture. (I am not this tall… I was standing on the toilet to take the picture!)
I decided that I would tackle the vanity first, because it was giving me less of a headache, and I started looking at options. I was convinced that painting the vanity white was the way to go, until I finished painting the rest of the room white and I realized how boring that would be (and blinding – a small, sunny, white space can do serious damage to your eyes!). I was trying to figure out what to do, as the fiancé and I took a walk through Lowes (our equivalent of a candy store) and when I saw all of the black vanities I knew I had found my answer. Just to be sure, since black isn’t something that can easily be painted over, I went and looked at a bunch of different black bathroom vanities, and fell in love. Here are some of the one’s that I particularly liked.

I Purchased the black paint yesterday, and hope to get started on this little project tonight. I will let you know how it goes!
